Project Management

Issue Logging and Reporting System

Vijay Krishnamurthy

Executive Summary

I worked as a software engineer prior to my MBA program. As a software engineer, I had to work with lots of projects writing software.  My team worked for different products working with different customers. And it is the same with most of the teams in a software industry. Considering the fact that it is almost always impossible to write a bug free code, there are issues raised by testers or by clients or sometimes even by consumers. And it becomes difficult to keep track of the issues just on papers or a plain excel sheet. And it is even more difficult to assess the project performance based on the way issues are logged.

My solution is designed to resolve the above-discussed issue of logging, tracking and reporting. This solution allows the testers from within the company or on the client’s side to log the issues. A project manager would then be able to view the issues and allocate an appropriate resource to work on this issue. The manager could then be able to assess the project performance through the reporting option in the solution. He/she could also have the report sent to his/her email.
